Today was my first last day of class. It was a strange feeling. I have friends who had a hard time and cried earlier in the day. It did not have that effect on me. I was both pleased and shocked by the ending. Though, I typically live in a state of denial when it comes to endings, I'm not sure that is the case today. I have appreciated my time in all of these classes, and will miss sitting in them. But as for today, I am more excited about being done, than sad at the ending.

I feel my time has finally come, and I am ready for it. Not sure what is in store next, but the possibilities that are in this new ending/beginning are very exciting....

I have over 500 contacts in my phone. I speak to, maybe, 10-15 of these a week. Half of these are family members, one I live with, the rest are the chosen few that I don't avoid. I have more "interactios" on Facebook and instant messenger than I do over the phone, and definately in person...

WTF?

What exaclty are we doing? I realize that the world is a scary place, and that it is so easy to simply avoid everything that is going on in our lives. But, lately, I have found myself somewhat disgusted with myself in regards to my electronic communication outweighing my verbal communication. I feel that avoidance, my own in particular, is beginning to tire me out.
Does anyone hear me? Agree?

I know that each one of us has our own experiences that have caused us to withdraw from society. But, how can we, as a culture, get back to circles around firepits, evenings in the park, random spur-of-the-moment desicions to hang out, etc. etc.? I know plenty of people who are already somewhat communal in interaction, but I feel that our society as a whole is pretty wrapped up in the idea of communication (insert social network name here______), but not actually the act of communicating (Myself included).

I know several people who have aattempted to leave the internet scene alltogether. While that may be necessary for some people (wondering that for myself...) I wonder what integration would be like? Is it possible? Or will I have to tweet about my new blog after typing, ignore you when you call me, and then text you back instead? Hi! Sorry. Busy right now. What's up?

I can't believe it is almost December (my favorite month). It feels like only a few weeks ago Autumn and I were in Florida visiting with her family over Christmas break... and yet, it is that time again.

This year we will be in SC for Christmas. I have mixed feelings about it, honestly. i miss my family, but find myself being sucked into the old familiar places. "i wonder the highways..."

Lately has found me in a reality check of sorts. Our internship fair was about a week ago. After the butterflies eventually settle, I began to realize that this is it. Our time has come. We are about to actually begin the work as a therapist. I find myself feeling a sigh of relief. Though I am overwhelming concerned at times, concerned for my own ability and understanding and capacity to sit with another, I feel relieved that we are finally about to begin exploring how we will be with others. This is definitely a time of excitement for me. Autumn and I were sitting at a bar in capitol hill yesterday and talking about this same thing. "Here we are," I said, "we have come a long way in 3 years. And here we are." It isn't as though we have "arrived", by any means. It's just an acknowledgment of the long path that we have chosen for our family. 3 years ago we were still living in SC. I was working at the boys home having no clue of how to be with those boys, feeling lost, and confused... Autumn was working crazy hours, making all the money. We were 3 months away from moving in with our best friends. Everything was so different. What a life we have had. And I feel like it's just about to begin, even though we aren't too far from the end of a very amazing season.

God, I love Counting Crows. Such a mood fitter for now.

So...

You live in an apartment, and there is a commons area where people love to leave things... for "free". You come home one day to find another free item in the hallway. But, to your surprise, it isn't a small pile of clothes from the early 90's, a hodge-podge of electronics and cords, or random burnt cd's... It's a huge, hideous, ugly couch.

Now, you pause and remember the countless times that people have abandoned items in the hallway with the assumption that someone will take them... AND, you remember that 95% of the time, they are never taken, and the manager usually posts a note of disgust with the tenants leaving items and never trashing them if no one takes them...

After finishing your thoughts, you approach the ugly and hideous couch.

Placed on top of the couch is a paper reading:

"FREE COUCH

(and yes manager, if it isn't taken, we will dispose of it)"

You think to yourself, "Ah, at last. A responsible neighbor who understands the frustration of seeing trash left in the hallway."

You go about your business with a slight hop in your step after reading such a responsible note.

(2 weeks later)

You walk into your apartment complex... and what's this?!

The couch! It's still there?!

What do you do...

A.) Storm up the steps in disgust and slam the door as you enter your apartment in retaliation for such irresponsible acts.

B.) Storm up the steps and bang on everyones door until you find who the culprit is.

C.) Walk up to your apartment as if nothing ever happened... you didn't really expect anything more out of these people anyway...

D.) Take pictures of the couch... and sell it on Craigslist.

It is so pretty out today. I wish that Autumn and I could've went to West Seattle and had a party all day long. Unfortunately, she had to work all day, and I had to study all day. And now, she is exhausted and taking a well deserved nap, and I still have a headache.

I really hope that my migraines don't start back up again. They are very painful, as some of you know.

I love having a view from our appartment. It isnt the greatest view. We can't see Rainier or the Space Needle, but we can see mountains. They are so wonderful this time of the year. I love being able to see the snow covered tops. But, I really should get back to reading. I figured I could blog during my reading breaks... Sir of get me back into the swing of blogging again.

And that's what this past month has felt like.

There has been an exorbitant amount of obstacles and hardships lately.

I am feeling the pressure of finding an internship, interviewing for the internship, and then working at an internship...

The need for a job of some sort...

The need for many many things. Too many to name.

My words aren't doing much justice to what is happening right now.

And no, I can't and won't try to put words to it.

It just hasn't been happening lately.

It is as though my words can't locate what is going on in my mind, or better yet, I simply have no words that could describe what has been taking place.

Or maybe, I'm just too lazy to figure out those words.

Either way, it's annoying and feels paralyzing.

I feel very overloaded emotionally,

as though my feelings have been set on fire,

and there is so much going on, that I can't even focus on just one feeling.

An overload.

That's what we'll call it.

I probably shouldn't even be writing blogs right now.

I can't focus very well to do it lately.

Which would explain why I haven't written, and I have a hard time writing anything fun, entertaining, and experimentive, these days.

What? What do you mean you haven't read a blog of mine in months? Really?

Hello world of blogginess. We have another week or so until school starts back. Which is pretty nice. Break has been rather lovely. Autumn and I were in Florida for Christmas break visiting her parents. Sometimes I wish that we lives closer to the east coast. I think I'm tired of being so far away from our really close friends and family.

I have realized that even though families can me very hard to interact with, I miss them a lot. A lot more than I ever thought I would. I feel like there are so many things that we could be doing with our families... And, we just can't do them while living 3300 miles away. It's getting very tiring. School is long, and exhausting. Break is nice, but I am ready for it to be over. Yet I feel as though I have so much more to learn befor I can do anything in the therapeutic world. But, I do have another year of school. And I'm sure I'll be fully competant and perfect before leaving MHGS. Because, of course, that is the plan, right? Yeah, I thought you'd say so.

We got an ipod touch (or iTouch as Autumn and I like to call it) for Christmas/my birthday. I am typing on it now, instead of on my laptop. I just wanted to get some practice with he wierd on-screen-keyboard... And, it sure is taking a lot of time. I'm sure it will get easier. by the time we get our iphone's in 2 years, Autumn and I will be amazing with the weird typing on the screen deal.

I'm exhausted. Time for a mental break... Down.

So, I thought I would write a tiny post.

And by tiny, I mean a blade of grass... a very small blade of grass...

School will begin on Tuesday. I am pretty excited about this upcoming trimester.

There will mostly be therapy oriented classes. Very exciting.

AND, another exciting point being that my job is allowing me to stay with them and work part-time. I will only have to work 3 days a week instead of 5 days. Woohoo!

New and exciting things are on the way. I'm sure I will become a little more terrified next week... when the teachers are going over the syllabi...

We are home now. Our 11 day trip to SC is over. And we are home.
Bitter/Sweet I guess. It was nice to be home and to stay with patrick and janet, our bff's.
But, it was also nice to come back to seattle, which still feels more like home to me.

I still can't get over the airlines charging for water... and next, they will charge for blankets and pillows...
This is a travesty. Things cost way too much.

Gas in SC was $3.50 or so. Which is ridiculously cheap compared to our$4.30 (which has dropped to $3.97 or something).

I hate gas, and love walking now. If only I had the time to walk to work and school... i would do it more. But the 40 minute walk home is too long when you I have so much to do. Someday... I will not have so much to do. But, that is another 2 or so years away... maybe even more...

This upcoming semester promises to be a good one. I am taking a lot of really amazing classes that I have been waiting for. Most of which are therapy classes. But, with the good classes comes the difficult and nonstop reading and paper writing... which is starting to overwhelm me.

I'm still tired from our trip. I need a nap.
